Massage is our passion. Make it your career.
A CAMTC-certified, 500-hour Massage Therapist program in Lake Forest, California — with limited spots for 100% tuition reimbursement through our Massage Envy employer partners.
Our History
Four decades of teaching massage, now in Orange County.
Our school began as the Sebastopol Massage Center in Northern California, where Patricia Oberg built a fulfilling career as a massage therapy instructor and school owner. When she retired in 2016, the school was purchased and relocated south.
In January 2018 the school officially moved to Lake Forest, California, renewing its certification with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and working with the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) on its new program certification. In 2020 it officially became the Orange County School of Massage, and in 2022 earned its CAMTC school certification.
Today we teach a pragmatic, well-rounded course of instruction — giving students the tools they need for a successful career in massage therapy.
Hands-on from day one
Practical technique over lecture. Students repeat Swedish, deep tissue and sports modalities until they're second nature — with proper body mechanics throughout.
One-on-one support
Multiple instructors work individually with students — even on non-school days — so nobody falls behind.
A path to a job
Through employer partners, qualifying students can graduate with a position waiting — and their tuition reimbursed in full.

Core Curriculum / Swedish Massage
▾
An introduction to the history, development and evolution of massage therapy, and the basic principles of proper body mechanics and draping. Students learn to conduct client intake interviews, document sessions and communicate effectively during the massage — then master the basic principles and strokes of Swedish massage, applying them to sports massage, pregnancy massage, massage for special populations (medically frail, pediatric, geriatric clients) and contraindications for massage.
Anatomy
▾
An introduction to anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, so students can develop session strategies for their clients. Builds a strong foundation of the human body that students continue to use as reference points throughout their education.
Spa Services
▾
Learn and practice enhanced therapy treatments commonly used in spa settings — scrubs, deep tissue enhancement and aromatherapy — while recognizing contraindications. Covers proper etiquette for working in a spa and how to promote yourself in that environment, with practical experience through clinic and lab exercises.
Advanced 1 — Deep Tissue
▾
Deep tissue massage: styles and techniques directed toward the deeper tissues of the muscles and fascia. Students learn to work with various client needs, understand contraindications, vary techniques to apply appropriate pressure, and maintain proper body mechanics.
Advanced 2 — Sports, Advanced Anatomy & Physiology
▾
Recognize and treat sport-related, repetitive-stress and general injuries. Covers pain management techniques, advanced anatomy and physiology, techniques for joints and muscles, stretching protocols, and using tools to increase client mobility.
Business — Essentials, Professional, Health & Ethics
▾
The intricacies of the therapeutic relationship, with a heavy focus on the roles and boundaries of therapist and client. Interactive discussion and activities reinforce professional ethical behavior — client/therapist communication, handling ambiguous situations, sexual and financial boundaries, dual relationships, and using peer support and supervision.

After completing 500 hrs, I felt prepared to embark on this career in massage therapy. If you are passionate about helping others this is a great place to learn from!
— Bri Y.I've learned so much about the benefits of massage and how I can apply it to better people's lives. They've created a system that allows you to actually retain the information without feeling so overwhelmed. Learning anatomy, physiology, and business has never felt so easy. I'm truly grateful to have attended a school that felt like a family outside of home. Thank you for everything OCSM!!
— Maibelline M.This is a great school for anyone looking to become a massage therapist. The teachers are very passionate — they primarily teach Swedish, deep tissue and sports massage, and we went over multiple techniques until they became second nature. They're willing to work one on one with students even on non-school days to make sure no one falls behind. I highly recommend this school.

— Karen Y.The program was super hands-on and that really helped me learn and gain confidence fast. I loved learning everything from massage techniques, anatomy, physiology, business, and spa. The teachers genuinely care about their students' success. Thanks to OCSM, I feel prepared and confident to start my career in massage therapy. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants solid training and a supportive environment.
— Megan M.The BEST schooling out there!!!! Most schools don't typically go one on one with you to get you to your best potential — however this school has multiple teachers to work with. I personally want to thank Amber, David, and Jamie for making me the best massage therapist I can be.
